The Recovery Academy offers a range of education, vocational skills, social and fitness activities for everyone in our care and has around 35 learners each week.
Annemarie supported her recovery by achieving a qualification in functional skills in English. She will continue her learning in the community and would like to study maths to help her with the practical skills needed in real-life situations.
Keith Powles, educational lead, said: “Education is one of the many forms of treatment and rehabilitation provided within the Trust. Patients get to learn new skills, gain qualifications, develop confidence, integrate with others and develop more effective relationships that improves their quality of life.
“Teaching people with mental ill health and learning disabilities with a forensic background is an extremely challenging role. It’s fantastic to see the changes brought about by the learning.”
The Recovery Academy works closely with One Awards, a not-for-profit organisation with charitable status that offers access to higher education diplomas, accreditation services and training to learning providers.
