The Council of Governors is made up of 54 elected and non-elected Governors who represent the interests of the public, staff and a range of other organisations.
Lead Governor Ann McCoy commented: “It was great to get our Governors together in a Covid-safe environment to discuss the big issues that are affecting our communities, our staff and our partners, which we’re absolutely to committed to.
“As one of the biggest mental health trusts in the country, it’s really important we’re able to bring the perspective of our patients, our carers and their families across the trust’s footprint, and their differing needs and requirements.
“Mental health has never been more important, and the pandemic really has had a huge impact on the services TEWV provides, and we’re working to ensure people can access the right care and support they need.”
The Council of Governors meets at least four times a year and has a range of responsibilities including communicating the wishes of members and the wider community, ensuring the trust is operating in accordance with its Terms of Authorisation, and advising on the longer-term direction to help the board effectively determine its policies.
Paul Murphy, interim chair of TEWV added: “Our Governors play an important role in the decision-making process of the trust, and their contribution is particularly important as it means that the voice of the local community is heard.”
