Runners and walkers of all abilities took on three laps around HMP Kirklevington Grange, taking in the surrounding forest and finishing with a lap inside the prison gates.
Emma Brookshaw, race director, said: “The TEWV 5k was a chance for us to grow our running portfolio and deliver a fun event at a unique location. We provide mental health care in HMP Kirklevington Grange as part of our Health and Justice services and we would like to thank our partners for helping to bring this event to life.

“We would also like to say a big thank you to our volunteers and participants who took part.”
The TEWV 5k followed the success of last year’s inaugural TEWV 10k, which will return to York Racecourse on Saturday 19 April and is open for entries.
This year will include a band on the run, with Steelworks steel band from Middlesbrough playing for runners. All finishers will receive a TEWV 10k medal.

The day will also include a 1 mile fun run for anyone aged 3 and up. It is almost sold out, with around 20 entries remaining.
Emma continued: “We believe we’re the first NHS Trust in the country to manage and stage our own running events and we’re looking forward to the upcoming TEWV 10k being bigger and better than ever.”
