Trust staff played a key role in promoting the message of mental health and well-being at York’s first ever multicultural Mela health festival.
Colleagues from our York CAMHS service were invited to host a variety of psychoeducation stalls at the event – with several young people volunteering their help throughout the day.
The festival also proved a great help in spreading the word about the North Yorkshire, York and Selby group Nothing About Us Without Us – which is hosted by the Integrated Care Board (ICB).
“It was an amazing event. There were fantastic performers, wonderful food and great stalls,” said Abi Collins, CAMHS co-creation lead for North Yorkshire and York.
“The word ‘Mela’ is a Hindu term for gathering and, by noon, over a thousand people had attended. We were delighted to be invited to take part.
“A huge thank you to everyone who joined us to make this event a tremendous success,” said Abi.
