Do you want to learn more about how the Menopause affects people differently – or how you can be more empowered to have conversations about menopause symptoms?
Our partners at Humber and North Yorkshire Health and Care Partnership are hosting an online Menopause Festival this week – to mark World Menopause Day on October 18th.
A huge range of events has been organised as part of the festival, including self-care and mindfulness sessions, fitness advice and talks by experts on a variety of topics such as finance.
There will also be a special Menopause support session for men on October 19th, which will offer confidential advice to help men support their partners or work colleagues during menopause.
Help and support on offer
A spokesperson said: “Has the menopause left you struggling? Do you want more of an understanding of why you are feeling the way you do (it’s not just hormones!)?
“The transition from perimenopause to post menopause can impact your emotional wellbeing, leaving you feeling out of balance, out of control and dissatisfied with life in general.”
Advice on range of topics
Among the special guests invited to speak during the festival is Dr Nighat Arif, who will explore the cultural differences that impact how people experience the menopause.
Another guest, Rachel Young, will look at the problems some women struggle with – such as anxiety, low mood, rage, exhaustion, reduced concentration, loss of confidence and negative thinking.
“Rachel will share her knowledge, strategies and techniques to help you to move from struggling to strutting your stuff once again!” said the festival spokesperson.
Other sessions during the festival will include:
- Mindfulness through the Menopause
- Managing your Menopause Naturally with special guest speaker Karen Newby
- Financial Wellbeing During the Menopause
- Self-Care for the Menopause (Stretching and Relaxation)
- Menopause, Sexuality and Intimacy with special guest speaker Dr Angela Wright
