We’re committed to improving people’s experience of our Trust. Over the last few years, we’ve made significant changes which have had a positive impact, but we know there is more to do.
Help us shape our future plans
We’d like to hear from as many voices as possible, across all of our communities, to help us to build a clearer picture of the big actions we need to make to improve mental health services in the future.
About Our Big Conversation
In August 2020 we launched Our Big Conversation – the biggest listening exercise in the history of our Trust.
Over 2,100 people shared 35,800 ideas, comments, and votes, exploring what could be possible if we got everything right and what we needed to do to achieve this.
From Our Big Conversation, we developed big ideas for change and a strategic direction called Our Journey to Change.
Our Journey to Change
Our Journey to Change sets out why we do what we do, the kind of organisation we want to be and how we will get there by delivering our three goals and living our new values of respect, compassion, and responsibility all the time.
Our three goals are:
- To co-create a great experience for patients, carers, and their families
- To co-create a great experience for our colleagues
- To be a great partner
Update July 2024
Since the launch of Our Journey to Change in 2021, we’ve seen the positive impact that it’s had on people’s experience of our Trust. And just in the last 12 months we have:
- Welcomed over 150 newly qualified nurses
- Launched two co-creation boards with patients, carers, and families
- Increased our peer support workforce by 27%
- Supported hundreds of people through our Individual Placement Service
- Embedded specialist mental health and wellbeing teams within schools
- Retained our 2-star rating from the Carers Trust
- Conducted the largest clinical trial, with University of York, to combat loneliness and depression
- Launched a new complaints service co-created with people in our care and carers
- Introduced patient safety incident response framework (PSIRF) to ensure learning from incidents and prevention
However, we know that there is more work to do so please join the conversation.
