The person you care for has been invited to attend Mental Health Services for Older People for an assessment of their mental health.
At Tees Esk and Wear Valleys (TEWV) we value the support that family members, friends and carers provide to our service users.
This webpage should provide you with some important information that may be helpful.
Carers Assessment
Any carer who appears to have needs for support is entitled to an assessment by the Local Council regardless of the amount or type of care you provide or your financial means.
You do not have to live with the person or be caring full-time to have an assessment. You can have an assessment even if the Local Council have decided the person you care for is not eligible for support.
Consent
Unless the patient gives consent/permission we are unable to discuss their care with family members, friends or carers.
Where consent has not been given, we can still listen to any concerns or worries that you may have regarding their wellbeing to assist us in the assessment process.
Support
At the initial assessment, your allocated clinician will agree an appointment to make contact with you in order to provide support and advice in your caring role.
