The prestigious accolade recognises our exceptional commitment to promoting health and wellbeing among our workforce and the wider community.
Russell Smith, our staff wellbeing lead, said:
“This award is a reflection of our commitment to creating a healthier, happier environment for our staff and the communities we serve.
“People are at the heart of everything we do and we’re proud that we prioritise wellbeing not just for patients, but for our own colleagues as well.”
Helping the Trust achieve gold status were initiatives such as TEWV 10k – a 10km fun run organised by staff for patients, carers, the wider community and colleagues at York racecourse, as well as campaigns covering a range of areas including flu vaccinations, mental health, financial wellbeing, and physical fitness.
The assessors praised the Trust by saying:
TEWV’s campaigns and supporting activities demonstrate a sound policy-procedure-practice approach to ensure maximum reach and efficacy, to benefit as many staff as possible and create a health and wellbeing conducive workplace and workforce.
They also commented:
“TEWV has delivered a sound Gold submission… Two of the most laudable attributes of the Trust are its receptiveness to change and challenge, coupled with the aspiration to continue to do more and better.”
The Better Health at Work Award scheme, endorsed by Public Health England and coordinated by the Northern Trades Union Congress, highlights outstanding efforts by employers in the North East and Cumbria to address health challenges in the workplace.
With over 400 organisations participating, the award serves as a benchmark for best practices that improve individual lives, workplace culture, and community wellbeing.
