Kind-hearted Trust workers are helping to spread festive cheer after playing Santa to dozens of Middlesbrough youngsters.
Staff from Secure Inpatient Services (SIS) embraced the spirit of Christmas to donate over 90 gifts to 35 children at Ayresome Primary School.
Appeal organiser Sophie Antill, an admin manager, said: “Everyone who bought a gift is a Christmas angel in my eyes, and I’m proud to work alongside them.
“Many of the children would likely have been without a present on Christmas Day but, thanks to the support of our staff, they now have treats to look forward to.”
Offering a helping hand
It is the second time this year that SIS staff have rallied to support Ayresome pupils – back in the summer they bought school uniforms for more than 30 children.
The primary was chosen as the link school for the campaigns as its postcode falls within one of the most deprived communities in Middlesbrough.
“Deprivation in the area is increasing, so it’s important we support these children as much as we can by keeping the magic of things like Christmas alive,” said Sophie.
“The difficult thing is knowing there will be many other families out there who need help, so I would urge people, if they can, to see what support they can offer others.”
Embracing the Christmas spirit
Sophie joined forces with fellow admin manager Andrea Jaworski to personally deliver the presents to the school – much to the delight of both staff and pupils.
Head teacher Charlotte Haylock said: “To be supported again by Trust staff, who truly have delivered the Christmas spirit as a reality, is amazing.
“These gifts will really make a difference to children who, otherwise, may have received very little. Thank you!”
Thank you to all who helped
Richard Hand, general manager of SIS at Ridgeway, Roseberry Park Hospital, today praised the hard work and generosity of those involved in the toy appeal.
“Well done and thank you to everyone who contributed. Children who would otherwise be without a present on Christmas Day now have gifts to enjoy,” he said.
