Footballers are being helped to achieve their health goals with the support of our Trust.
North Yorkshire Talking Therapies (NYTT) has sponsored Harrogate XL 11’s team for this season – with the name of the service featuring prominently on the new kit.
The focus of the team, which plays in the Yorkshire XL 11’s League, is health and wellbeing – with weight loss and fitness being a key part of their approach.
Team member and Number 16 player Matthew Stephenson, a psychological wellbeing practitioner with NYTT, said:
“Both the XL league and NYTT share a common goal of making a difference to mental health and wellbeing.
“Playing 11-a-side against fierce competition creates a bond and sense of teamwork that can only support the mental health of the players.
“I’m really proud to have helped expand our reach to the wider football community, and I’m incredibly grateful for the football team’s support in achieving this.”
Confidential support available
Talking Therapies are provided by our Trust to support people who are struggling with feelings of anxiety, stress or worry, and are designed to help lift your mood.
Access to a range of confidential and effective support is available via self-referral.
Poppy Danahay, NYTT team manager, said: “The type of treatment people may receive from Talking Therapies depends very much on individual symptoms. We try to use the least intrusive method of care possible.
“This means that people are generally offered a low intensity therapy, like computerised cognitive behavioural therapy, psycho-educational courses, guided self-help over the phone or face-to-face.”
