PAT is a national charity that boosts the health and wellbeing of thousands of people across the UK by arranging visits from pets.
Simon and Rolo visit hospitals, schools, prisons and care homes to interact with people and help provide a calm and relaxing environment through stroking, walking or simply sitting with the dog.
Simon Clayton said: “Rolo really enjoys meeting people, he’s a very laid-back dog and I think that he has a massive impact on the wellbeing of patients. They relax in his company and love to give him treats, which he thinks is great.”
Activity coordinator Emma Blewitt said: “Therapy dogs have such a calming effect on our patients and it’s lovely to see them come into the activity room, open up and interact positively with the dog. It leaves such a smile on everyone’s face and we’re looking forward to the next visit.”
